Infrared Office Heating

The Challenge

As part of the agreement to take on a 10 year office lease, the new tenant required the landlord to refurbish and upgrade the offices. The old offices had a mix of electric convection heaters and night storage heaters which were expensive to run and ineffective at evenly warming the space. The tenant therefore specifically requested that a new efficient heating system was installed.

As part of the renovation, the offices were completely rewired which presented the opportunity to move the location of the heaters.

It was also important that the heating system was flexible, leaving the maximum amount of floor space available for desks and storage units. The Solution

The outdated electric heaters were replaced with LAVA® BASIC 2.0 and LAVA® BASIC-DM Ceiling infrared radiant heaters. Each room was treated as a separate heating zone and controlled by a separate programmable thermostat. The wall mounted heaters are controlled by hard-wired thermostats, whilst the ceiling mounted heaters by wireless thermostats to simplify the installation process. The result is an accurately controlled heating system with reduced running costs, improved thermal comfort and an even heat distribution in all rooms.

By working with the tenant and the electrical contractor, we specified an ideal solution which is cost-effective, easy to install and saves on future heating costs. The tenant now has a modern silent infrared heating system which provides a comfortable working environment and the landlord has a system with a long life (20 yrs +) which required no ongoing maintenance.

Wall & Ceiling Mounted Panels

Due to the high ceiling of the Yoga studios, the LAVA Glass-DM 1000W panels were suspended 2.5m above the floor to achieve the desired air temperature of 38°C-40°C at ground level. The LAVA Glass panels are controlled by a wireless thermostat which simplified the installation process.

The wall mounted panels are controlled by hard-wired eTOUCH mini programmable thermostats which can switch up to 16 Amps or 3.8 Kw of heating – the maximum heating load in any one room is 3 Kw (3 No. x LAVA® BASIC 2.0 1000 W).
