The Challenge
The engineering office “Gros” realised the project together with ETHERMA. The entire new building with rooms, breakfast area and seminar room was to be heated with electric infrared heat. The installation of the heating on the ceiling is particularly advantageous due to the homogeneous distribution of the infrared heat. Heating from the ceiling in the seminar area has another advantage: the challenge is often that larger rooms and areas need to be heated, but you don‘t know where to place the heating elements. In this case, heating from the ceiling is ideal, the space is optimally utilised and subsequent damage to the heater is avoided. In the entrance area of a hotel, there is the additional challenge that the doors never remain closed for long. This is of course desirable for a well-running hotel, but a challenge for heating, as the entrance area in the hotel should still be inviting and at a good temperature.
The boiler had not worked for some years and needed replacing whilst the pipework and radiators had corroded and become prone to leaking.
As a result it was prone to cold spots and draughts.
Need for a varied and multifunctioning solution.
